The New Mount Vernon Dog Park is now officially open! Dogs and their people are welcome to come play! We had a great turnout for the Grand Opening. I would guess that there were at least 60 to 80 dogs there and even more people. Clearly we need a second dog park!
The event was hosted by Larry Otos, Director of the Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation Department and candidate for Mayor of Mount Vernon. He spoke well and thanked all of the people instrumental in making the first Mount Vernon Dog Park, including me… Thanks Larry!
Mayor Bud Norris also spoke about the efforts of the people involved in making this dog park into a reality.
Lisa Esparza and Calvin the Dog did the ribbon cutting (breaking) in proper dog style! Calvin’s leash was tied to the ribbon when Lisa threw his ball into the park…. No more silly ribbon in our way to play!!
My dog Jester had a great time chasing his ball, running and playing around, and sniffing all kinds of stuff.
Enjoy the Mount Vernon Dog Park everyone!! Its Time To Play Ball.

Hey Everybody,
The fence has been installed at the Mount Vernon Dog Park! Now all it needs is some dirt, some grass and a little bit of signage and we’ll have Mount Vernon’s first Off Leash Dog Park!!
If you want to see it, take a drive into Bakerview Park and go all the way to the end of the road and parking lot. The triangle shaped area between the two soccer fields is the future dog park!
